After watching my daughter 'Arting" freely from 2-16 years of age and then teaching at Painting with a Twist for 5 years, I slowly came to realize that what I had passionately believed to be true for me in fact applied to everyone ! Art is meant to be for EVERYONE, its a personal language to connect our inner self to the outside world. I kept my "serious aka controversial" artwork private but experimented with fun interactive pieces, with different mediums and surfaces ranging from people to walls and many things in between! There was always something missing, Art for Art's sake did not fulfill me on an everyday basis. At the tender age of 17, with no artistic experience and only the instinctive belief that Art would somehow save me from the terrifying Nothingness inside me after growing up in war ravaged Rhodesia, I dived into doing a B.Fine Arts. Institutional art bred the mentality, that if your art isn't on a par with Van Gogh & Picasso you are a failure and many in my art class didn't touch a brush for decades afterward. It can replicate previsual plans to a high degree of accuracy.It has been an interesting journey to arrive at this point in my artistic career. Skycam was established in 1984 in the United States. Skycam and Cablecam are consolidated under Skycam, which preceded the other systems mentioned. Spidercam is a European company that was established in the early 2000s and is mainly used for sporting events such as the Pakistan Super League, Bundesliga, Rugby World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Ultimate Fighting Championship, US Open (tennis), Indian Premier League, and French Open. Some of these specialize in other areas of film, including sports footage. While Spydercam is based in the United States with systems in place around the world and is largely used for film and commercial work, there are several competitors on the market of cable-suspended camera systems. With the most control and variety out of the three general rigs offered by Spydercam, Talon is a sophisticated system. This is a three dimensional rig that allows movement anywhere within its volumetric space. With two axes, the Falcon allows both horizontal and vertical movement along two separate lines. Falcon Īccording to the Spydercam website, the Falcon is the most versatile and widely used of the rigs offered. The camera is held tight to the highline, which allows for a more stable shot. Often used for live events, it can start and stop very quickly.
The Bullet rig is the quickest to set up and implement, and can be rigged horizontally or vertically. This is a simple, point-to-point rig with a single axis.

The manufacturers of Spydercam claim their software is entirely modular, allowing them to work with producers to create their specific shot, but Spydercam also outlines three general systems they call Bullet, Falcon, and Talon. Joined later, and now owned by Tim Drnec and Hammer Semmes, they added their unique experiences in Motion control, VFX, stunts, and rope rigging.
